Willpower: The Little Engine That Could

How do you figure out what to choose?

Huge question! The most specific answer is this: You are asking how to determine your intentions because your primary intentions ought to be guiding the majority of your decisions. Intentions are as unique as fingerprints and are revealed to us as we get to know ourselves. Thus, if you want to make effective choices, you study your unique intentions by studying your unique self. That is done by replacing shame about yourself with curiosity about yourself so that you can fruitfully explore your past. Who you have been, what has made you feel good about yourself, when your have been at your best, what causes you to stumble, etc. -- these are all data that inform you about who you are. The more general answer is this: you have to be able to trust yourself to implement what you intend to do with your life once you identify it. To that end, many of the articles on this website will support you in that. So heal your childhood curses, learn the truths you need to know, attend to your self-esteem, and so on!
